Lufthansa seems to be making a push to cash in on your hotel stays.

We have already covered the new World of Hyatt offer which will give you 1,000 Miles & More miles on every Hyatt stay. Importantly, this is ON TOP of your Hyatt points so there is no reason not to register if you are booking a Hyatt.

A good deal has also now appeared with IHG One Rewards, covering Holiday Inn, InterContinental, Hotel Indigo etc.

Earn 10 Miles & More miles per $1 on IHG hotel stays

If you switch your earning preference from IHG One Rewards points to Miles & More miles, you will earn 10 miles per $1.

Stays at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites will earn at a lower rate of 5 miles per $1.

You need to register by 30th November (click here to register) and stay by 31st December.

There is a cap of 15,000 bonus Miles & More miles which can be earned in total via this promotion.

If you value a Miles & More mile at 1p, which I would, then this is an excellent rebate – 10p of value per $1 (76p) of pre-tax spending. It’s a better deal than taking IHG points, especially if you don’t have elite status.

However, you cannot do much, if anything, with a small amount of Lufthansa miles so only serious collectors should look at this.

You need to register by clicking here. Remember that you also need to switch your IHG One Rewards account from earning points to earning Miles & More miles.

How to earn Star Alliance miles from UK credit cards

How to earn Star Alliance miles from UK credit cards (April 2025)

None of the Star Alliance airlines currently have a UK credit card.

There is, however, still a way to earn Star Alliance miles from a UK credit card

The route is via Marriott Bonvoy. Marriott Bonvoy hotel loyalty points convert to over 40 airlines at the rate of 3:1.

The best way to earn Marriott Bonvoy points is via the official Marriott Bonvoy American Express card. It comes with 20,000 points for signing up and 2 points for every £1 you spend. At 2 Bonvoy points per £1, you are earning (at 3:1) 0.66 airline miles per £1 spent on the card.

There is a preferential conversion rate to United Airlines – which is a Star Alliance member – of 2 : 1 if you convert 60,000 Bonvoy points at once.

The Star Alliance members which are Marriott Bonvoy transfer partners are: Aegean, Air Canada, Air China, Air New Zealand, ANA, Asiana Airlines, Avianca, Copa Airlines, Singapore Airlines, TAP Air Portugal, Thai Airways, Turkish Airlines and United Airlines.
