New £50 American Express and Hilton hotel cashback offer launched

American Express has launched a new cashback deal with Hilton, covering selected European hotels.

This is excellent timing, given the launch of the new Hilton Honors Debit Cards today – click to read.

If you sign up for one of the two new Hilton Honors Debit Cards you will receive Silver or Gold elite status in Hilton Honors, which will work nicely with any stay you book around this cashback deal.

£50 American Express and Hilton cashback offer launched

If you are targetted for the cashback, you will see the deal on the ‘Offers’ page of one or more of your Amex cards on the app or website. Don’t waste your time checking your Marriott Bonvoy Amex however ….

You will receive £50 cashback when you spend £200 on your card with Hilton by 27th December.

The rules confirm that cumulative spend counts – you don’t need to do £200 in one transaction.

There are a huge number of UK hotels listed along with hotels in Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Botswana, Croatia, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Luxembourg, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, the Netherlands, Saudi Arabia, the Seychelles, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, UAE, USA and Zambia.

There is a PDF here showing which hotels are taking part.

The list is NOT in alphabetical order by country. It looks like it is, but it isn’t. Make sure you look through every page.

Existing bookings are fine as long as they are not already pre-paid. There is no need to rebook anything.

The offer rules say that only checkout spend counts. In virtually all circumstances, pre-paid bookings will also trigger the cashback because they are processed in the hotel via the same credit card system. You do this at your own risk, of course.

This offer stacks with the current Hilton promotion

Don’t forget to register for Hilton’s current promotion if you are planning a stay.

Hilton Honors is offering 2,500 bonus points on every stay, cash or reward, between 3rd September and 31st December 2024.

We value 2,500 Hilton Honors points at £8.33 so – when you factor in the bonus points, any elite status bonus and the American Express cashback – this is attractive for cheap, short midweek stays.

You can register here.  Our full article on the current Hilton promotion is here.

Hilton Honors debit card

And don’t forget the new Hilton debit cards!

Your discounted Hilton stay could be a good excuse to take out one of the two new Hilton Honors Debit Cards which launched today.

The premium card (£150 fee) comes with Hilton Honors Gold status, which gets you free breakfast for two people on every stay – or a daily food and drink cash credit in the US. You’d also get an 80% bonus on the base points earned.

You would also earn 3 or 4.5 Hilton Honors points, depending on card, when you pay at a Hilton hotel outside the UK – and pay 0.5% or 0% in FX fees, depending on card. If you are paying at checkout, nothing stops you paying just over £200 (to trigger the Amex cashback) on your Amex card and then paying the balance with a Hilton Honors Debit Card.

You can learn about the new debit cards in our article here.

  • TGLoyalty says:

If it’s not on the list there’s a 99.9% chance you won’t get the credit, the 0.1% chance was that they missed the property off the list.

None of the PT properties pay out.

  • Rob says:

They should take it now but a lot of hotels can’t be bothered because its double the work (since they need to charge you for extras whilst you’re actually staying). However, if you call them up after a week or so of the transaction not appearing the hotel can usually process it.

  • BBbetter says:

To add to Rob’s comment, Marriott hotels wait for 48 hours before charging the card, apparently that’s the cancellation period.

Got it on 2 of my cards, so that’s £100 off my 3 night London stay in November.

Do the hotel offers work, if you simply pay for food at the hotels on the card, where you have used points to book the room

  • JD says:

Annoyingly this is not appearing on either of my Amex cards (Platinum and BA Blue). A shame as I have used the offer many times in the past but interestingly I did not use the one issued earlier this year. I am wondering what could have caused me to be excluded this time round…

  • Adam says:

Does anyone know why every Hilton branded hotel in Vienna is on the list, except the Hampton that I want? (Vienna City West) 😢🤣
