British Airways discounting short haul Avios redemptions – five days only

British Airways has launched a short flash sale on European Avios redemptionssee here.

The snag is that it is only valid on redemptions from Gatwick and London City which restricts the routes you can choose.

Apart from that, it’s a decent offer with a broad redemption period. Both Euro Traveller and Club Europe cabins are included.

British Airways Club Europe

The key dates are:

  • book by 23rd October 2024
  • travel between 12th November 2024 and 25th March 2025

You will save ‘up to’ 40% on the Avios component of your redemption, depending on route. The cash element is NOT reduced. This means that you should think carefully about which ‘Avios and cash’ combination you choose.

Generally, the ‘most Avios’ option – eg the one with £1 of taxes and charges in Euro Traveller and £25 of taxes and charges in Club Europe – is NOT the best option if you value an Avios at 1p. With a discount of ‘up to’ 40% on the Avios part, however, it may be. There is no list of what the discount is by route.

You can find out more about the offer on this page of ba.com.

New BA website up and running

    • Reeferman says:

      Not necessarily
When I’ve logged on, I’ve seen it one time – but ever since it’s back to the old version.
No idea what triggers the new version

  • Rob says:

Yes, in most cases, but you are reliant on the hotel actually taking payment in advance. Marriott is quite keen on taking the money though!

  • CJD says:

Has there been a change in minimum connection time at LCY?

I wanted to look to see if it was worth changing my GLA-LCY-EAS booking in March, there’s 1h40 between flights on the outbound leg, website wouldn’t let me progress to choosing inbound flights as there was less than 2 hours between flights.

The app did look like it would sell me a cash ticket on the same flights though…

  • Keith says:

Is it worth the risk of cancelling redemption flights if no others available and hope they go back into inventory?

    • Rob says:

Depends how far out it is (more than 30 days out your chances are improved) and what the downside for you is if they don’t. Not sure I’d risk it.

  • Tony Simmons says:

Anyone else not able to use the Autumbonus code?

  • Simon Alce says:

    Hi

As of 9:42 today, the Wineflyer “AUTUMNBONUS” code is no longer valid on purchases for the premium champagne case as illustrated in your article.

    • Rob says:

Wasn’t valid for a few days. However, the BA Amex part of the deal IS still valid – and the upside with that bit is you don’t need to order a case.
