News in brief:

American Express transfers to Singapore Airlines will return

A few readers got in touch over the weekend to say that Singapore Airlines had disappeared as a transfer partner from the American Express Membership Rewards website.

It is usually best to assume that these sort of things are just temporary IT issues – Amex doesn’t have a track record of making no-notice changes to Membership Rewards.

I checked with the company yesterday and they confirmed that there has been no permanent change and that you will be able to make transfers again soon.

The IHG winter sale is on

IHG has launched its winter sale covering its hotels in Europe, India, the Middle East and Africa.

Booking is open now and runs until 21st January.

You can book for stays up to 31st March.

The headline offer is 15% off Best Available Rate, albeit sale rates are non-refundable and non-cancellable. In reality, you are probably saving about 5% on the usual Advanced Purchase rate.

You can find out more on this special page of the IHG website.

This offer will double up with the current IHG One Rewards ‘double points’ bonus. This gives you double base points on all cash stays until 31st March but only from your second cash stay after registration.

You can find out more about the bonus points offer here and the all-important registration link is here.

The home page for the sale is here.

  • GMT says:

100% bonus for me, I did max out with buying points last year and am a diamond member

  • DarrenS says:

100% bonus as Diamond. I bought 200K points last year using the same promotion, which seems to be almost permanent.

  • Ross says:

Gold member, never bought points before, 100% bonus

  • will says:

Diamond, bought points many many years ago. 40% discount for me.

  • Gary M says:

The Hilton Buy points link doesn’t work. It opens and closes immediately.

When I visit the Hilton Buy Points page manually there appears to be no promotion on at all.

Glad SQ is not permanently gone as an Amex transfer partner, otherwise Amex UK would have zero Star Alliance transfer partners!

    O/T,

I’ve just upgraded to AMEX Plat on the offer, looking to pre book lounge access with priority plus. I’m trying to pre book the using flight code I’m on (EK) say no availability, for a random flight (EZY) an hour before there is option to prebook. Will they check boarding passes match pre booking flight?
