American Express has brought back the generous Amex Dining offer which ran twice in 2024.

From now until 31st March 2025, you will receive 20% cashback at 500+ participating UK restaurants when you pay with The Platinum Card.

Holders of American Express Preferred Rewards Gold are NOT included this time but will receive the standard 10% cashback, as will holders of other non-cobrand Amex cards.

Click here for more details on this promo page of the amexdining.com website. Registration is required.

You can learn more about the benefits of The Platinum Card from American Express in this article.

Amex Dining offer

What cards are taking part?

Only Platinum and Centurion cards are included, looking at the small print.

American Express Preferred Rewards Gold, American Express Rewards Credit Card holders and Amex Cashback cardholders are not included in the 20% deal but have the regular promotional cashback rate of 10%.

Co-brand cards (BA, Marriott, Nectar, Harrods etc) are not included.

Amex Business cardholders are included at the standard 10% cashback level.

How do you earn the cashback?

You must register for this offer before dining. Assuming there is no targeting, it will show in the ‘Offers’ tab of your American Express Platinum card, either in the app or online.

There is no cap of any sort on the cashback. You can visit as many restaurants as you want – and earn multiple times at the SAME restaurants if you wish – and there is no limit to the cashback you can receive.

The Amex website says there are ‘500+’ restaurants taking part. If that is correct, it is a big drop from the 1,300+ restaurants that took part in the previous version of this deal.

There are many independent restaurants taking part, so don’t feel that you are being forced into the arms of a big chain.

A full list of participating sites can be found here.

The list of restaurants in the ‘10% off’ offer for holders of other American Express cards is due to be published today – it should be here – and it will be interesting to see if that is a broader list.

  • Michael says:

I’m fairly certain Bread St Kitchen is on both.

  • doug says:

Why does the article contain an image of the Amex GOLD card ?

    • Steve S says:

      Rob’s still in holiday mode

      • Rob says:

        Yes, basically!

Sorry, reason is that its a clone of the one we used last time when it WAS open to Golds, and my brain didn’t make the connection.

    • Andrew J says:

I was wondering the same thing!

  • Andrew J says:

Probably not as the Ivy isn’t included in the 20% list.

    • Bumblebee says:

Re the Ivy deal stackable, and Steve’s question. I have an email stating £20 off £100 spend, so I guess you could buy the gift voucher and receive the free bubbles ,and get the £20 off the meal !

  • Paul (another one) says:

I will register but it looks a very sparse list and some of the offers expire in March. Seems like a marketing “win” and a customer “loss” to me.

  • Tiberius says:

Triple dipping between, the amex 20% off, The Fork 50% off (applied to the bill directly) and avios in store spend is the holy grail.

  • Moodytractor says:

Here’s the restaurants on both lists as far as I can see:
    Angler
    1. Aqua Nueva
    2. Bread Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay
    3. Hakkasan Hanway Place
    4. Heddon Street Kitchen by Gordon Ramsay
    5. Yauatcha City

  • Fraser says:

Very poor list here, and strange that only three branches of Hawksmoor are included, not all of them.

  • GraemeP says:

A total of 8 venues in Scotland (2 in Glasgow and 6 in Edinburgh).

They could try a little harder to have a proper geographic spread of participating outlets.
