Liverpool John Lennon airport to get a new 200-seat Aspire lounge this summer

There is good news for HfP readers travelling through Liverpool John Lennon airport, with the announcement of a brand new Aspire lounge.

Aspire and the airport appear to be going for it in a big way. This isn’t a modest expansion of the existing space – it is totally new lounge in a new location which will seat 200 people.

This is triple the capacity of the existing lounge and must surely put an end to any access issues for Priority Pass holders.

Aspire is continuing with its tiered approach, with the lounge consisting of two parts.

Luxe by Aspire will be an adults-only space with premium drinks and food and ‘private booths’. I suspect that this will be available to Priority Pass holders for a surcharge and will be the default lounge for (the very few) business class passengers.

The main lounge will presumably be focussed on the Priority Pass market, although both lounges will obviously be bookable for cash too.

Unlike the new Aspire lounge complex in Newcastle, there will not be a super-premium area with table service.

In another key development, the lounge will even have its own toilets – something which is missing from the current Aspire lounge!

The airport said:

With a nod to the City’s iconic Liver Building, this fantastic new lounge will have a look and feel that will reflect the area and city region.

The increased capacity and improved facilities will have a real premium feel, giving those passengers looking for somewhere special to relax before their departure, a great start to their journey from Liverpool.

We are also creating a space that will be able to accommodate the growing numbers of passengers using Liverpool both now and into the future too.

David Collyer at Aspire said:

Airport lounges have seen a marked increase in demand from passengers looking for an elegant space to relax, whether for business or pleasure. The addition of ‘Luxe by Aspire’ will mark a real step-change in delivering the premium service our guests are looking for.

We look forward to creating a truly exceptional lounge experience in Liverpool, where travellers can unwind or work, all while enjoying the luxury of a premium hotel atmosphere.

Aspire will hopefully organise a media event as they did with the Newcastle launch which will give us a chance to take a look. There is no opening date apart from ‘summer’, with construction already underway.

As someone who works at the airport, it looks to be that the airside Starbucks is being replaced by the new Aspire Luxe. The photos show a view of the apron and runway which is only possible within the old Starbucks or the Kissing Gate. As of current the construction walls are up around the airside Starbucks and from walking past each night it has been completely gutted too.

    • Ramsey says:

No that’s incorrect. The Starbucks is just getting a major revamp to bring it up to standard of the recently re-opened Kissing Gate, newly opened Monty’s and Sable & Co. The catering offer is much improved. The new lounge is being built just prior to the Duty Free walk through.
