If you’re a fan of Pete Doherty, Virgin Red has an allocation of tickets for an exclusive rooftop gig on Tuesday 1st July.

It takes place at the News Building at London Bridge, better known as ‘Baby Shard’.

Tickets are 7,500 Virgin Points per person (over 18s only). This is effectively £75 if you value Virgin Points at 1p, but with only 250 guests it will be a unique experience.

For comparison, Virgin Red tends to price tickets for The Red Room VIP suite at The O2 at 40,000 to 50,000 Virgin Points per pair. It’s obviously not directly comparable because those are longer shows, but you are half a mile from the stage there and sharing the night with 20,000 people, not 250.

To quote:

Best known for being co-frontman of the Libertines formed in 2002, Pete Doherty is back touring with the band with a series of shows this year. With a great new solo album ‘Felt Better Alive’, which is out now, get ready for an exclusive performance at Virgin Radio.

You’ll get up close and personal as he performs right in front of you, while taking in the stunning views of London’s skyline. Not only that, while the sun goes down and the tunes are turned up, you’ll be treated to a drink and some nibbles from your Virgin Red host.

These tickets are exclusively for Virgin Red members – yep, you’ll be a Virgin Red VIP. And because exclusive experiences like this are much better shared (someone needs to take all the snaps, right?), multiple tickets can be bought with your points but each redemption must be made individually. Make sure to get in quick because there’s only a limited number of tickets to get your hands on.

What’s included:

  • Sunset Session experience – an intimate live gig, exclusive to a limited audience
  • VIP access – a cloakroom and reserved area for Virgin Red members
  • Welcome drink & nibbles – 1x welcome drink per guest, plus snacks included. A paid bar will be available for additional drinks (card only).

If you’re interested, you can find out more on the Virgin Red website here or in the app.

If your Virgin Flying Club account is not linked to Virgin Red yet, you will need to download the Virgin Red app and follow the instructions. Your Flying Club points balance will immediately be available for spending.

If you don’t have any Virgin Points, American Express Membership Rewards transfers are usually instant although a first-time transfer may be delayed for an hour or so for security checks.

From his old skeletal self he seems to be enjoying food now, a lot. Good for him.

  • Tariq says:

Any feedback from attendees of the previous event here?

    • Jonathan says:

When I went to the Kooks event, they performed for around half an hour, then disappeared, less than the same of time later, the bandstand was fully disassembled, and it was just everyone socialising and enjoying drinks from then onwards. Having gone solo, it didn’t take me too long afterward the bandstand had been packed away before I went on my way.

After the live performance by the Kooks ended, I said to a pair of other visitors that I thought it was supposed to go until 10pm, they thought the same, we were both somewhat confused.

It was a good experience, although only really it if you enjoy the artist who’s performing.

The drinks and snacks were good, and VR guests get a different wrist band to other visitors.

It was very breezy queuing up to be allowed into the building before the event starts however…

Got two tix! Thanks! Hubby is a libertines fan!

  • Chris W says:

    I thought he was dead

    • Jonathan says:

He’s had some major problems overcoming his substance abuse addictions, and he’s kept away from the lime light in an effort to keep on the upward track, that’s my understanding

      • Dave says:

His interview with Louis Theroux was quite interesting, personally I didn’t like his music that much but I respect him for going to drugs hell and back, sorting his life out and wish him all the best.

I won’t be there as I’ll be snorting coke off a hookers ass at that time though 🥳

        • NorthernLass says:

Apparently he now lives a quiet life in rural France and suffers quite badly from Type 2 diabetes.
Enjoy your evening with your rugby friend!

No, the guy who died was the one who was in altercation with him at a party.

  • Sam wardill says:

I just keep getting “whoops something went wrong “ if I try to redeem . Typical Virgin IT glitches

  • Ken says:

Also getting the “whoops” message. Sold out I suspect

  • David says:

Slightly related but there’s been a large increase on most Virgin award fees. No Bueno Virgin, no bueno.

  • Ross says:

FYI – I saw him at Le Mans a few years ago. He didn’t sing a single Libertines track, instead it’s some sort of French jazz, and it was absolutely awful.
