The bad news is that four sign up bonuses in one day is too many for us to cover in our usual ‘compare and contrast’ way.

This article is therefore a very short summary of the four bonuses. Separate articles today and tomorrow will look at the four deals in more detail.

For the personal Platinum card bonus If my cousin refers me under the refer a friend, will this cancel out the 80k Plat Promo?

  • memesweeper says:

I am still waiting for my sign up bonus from Amex after applying for Business Platinum last time there was an improved incentive. If you’re in a hurry for the points beware!

    • Sharka says:

Mine took a formalised complaint after being given various inconsistent ‘brush-offs’ on multiple occasions: Amex’s customer service at Brighton is not what it used to be.

  • Jack says:

Are there any rumours of bonuses for the other cards coming soon? BAPP in particular?

  • Colin MacKinnon says:

How does this work if one is on the two-year personal card furlough?

  • VR says:

100k MR points on the Platinum via a referral link FYI

  • Martin M says:

Typical… my 2 years without one ends 181025, but the Gold one’s sign up bonus end date 141025. Oh well, I’m sure they’ll be others that come along

    • Scott says:

Why is it typical? My 2 years doesn’t end until early 2027, so doesn’t seem very typical at all.

  • executiveclubber says:

Is there anything you’d do to create £12k of spend? My business essentially spends nothing…

    • Rob says:

Not that looks like business spend, no. Apron can pay bills for you but they are very strict about who is paid.

      • Colin MacKinnon says:

Does Bluechain still work with Amex – and does that HfP link for an Amazon voucher still work?

I could pay insurance and VAT pretty quick.

        • sayling says:

Nope – Bluechain effectively soured the pot when they extended the AmEx payments to HMRC, so AmEx pulled the plug

        • JDB says:

No, Bluechain still hasn’t got back in with Amex! I’m sure they are trying hard to restore the relationship as its plaintive emails (and note on contact form) make clear how important it was.

        • Rob says:

Link for a voucher still works but they don’t take Amex now.

  • ChampagneSocialist says:

My Amex Business Platinum is about to reach 1 year anniversary. Before I stump up next year’s annual fee for the Platinum, what’s the best way to “downgrade” to the Business Gold to get the sign-up bonus? Cancel and apply, or try to negotiate a direct downgrade via CS? Thanks

    • Rob says:

Would need to cancel, or apply and see if you can have both. There’s no downgrade route which gets a bonus.
