Sounds like you would be OK as the 2 main ways you’ve identified this could go (earlier flight same day or rebook on QR) are both things BA has actually been known to do willingly in the past.

I do recall you were having much more difficulty with BA about rerouting another booking. What happened in the end with that other one?
