Well the stretch of beach at the Kimpton is one of the best 😀. There’s not much to compare with a city break (apart from a limited amount of duty free shopping) but there’s water sports galore – Red Sail Sports does catamaran trips from the Kimpton, including a very nice sunset sail. There are a few historic sites to visit, plus the Botanic Gardens where you can see the unique Cayman Blue Iguana – these are all much easier if you rent a car as taxis are extortionate. There’s also plenty of high-end dining and a small museum and art gallery in the general Georgetown area. Camana Bay about 10 mins drive from the Kimpton is a nice complex of boutiques, restaurants – and a cinema if you get really bored!
It’s actually much more sports cars and yachts-type sophistication than laid-back boho island so probably more suited to city lovers than some other islands.
Big tip – look at the Cruise TT website to check when the cruise ships are in dock because many of the (thousands of) passengers will come to the beach for the day, especially at the time of year you’re going. This is a good time to visit the quieter parts of the island! Pre-covid they were not allowed to visit Fri/Sat/Sun which is when we do any activities on and around Seven Mile Beach.
Oh and pace yourself on the flight – it’s 12 hours because of the stop in NAS!
