Apologies about being vague in the question I asked above.

What I was trying to check is my understanding of the definition for “Account” and “Card Account“. Based on the wordings below, so far I have concluded that:

– For any sections in the policy that mention the definitions below, the supplementary cardholders don’t have to pay with the supplmentary card, instead, they can use their own Amex credit/charge cards and would still be covered.

Does that sound about right? The customer service has been advising something different each time I called, therefore, it would be nice to have a sense check on here.

Definition from the policy:

“Account” or “Card Account” means Your consumer and small business cards issued by American Express
in the UK, excluding corporate cards and any American Express cards issued by bank partners.”

“You/Your” means the Insured”

Insured” means (i) Cardmembers and their Families, (ii) Supplementary Cardmembers and their Families
and (iii) grandchildren of the Cardmember or a Supplementary Cardmember who are under the age of 25
and travelling with anyone insured under the Card Account”

“Card” means any Card or other Account access device issued to a Cardmember (or a Supplementary
Cardmember
) for the purpose of accessing the Account.”

“Cardmember” means any individual who holds a valid Account.”
