My Gold is due to end in September and now Silver to March so I lose six months. I fly to Sydney First Class at least twice a year. I was about to book Sydney First Class London, Dublin, Dubai, Singapore Sydney for November which would neatly get me to Gold. I found a bargain (for BA) cash fare for £9k. However that only gets me Gold to March 2025 instead of November 2025.
I have never paid more than £6k with the Lufthansa group First Class to Sydney so where I could justify the BA price on their old year ends on the new nones I can’t.
So sorry BA this time you lose out. I get to fly a superior product ( First Class terminal, often driven to and from the plane while in transit, Singapore Suites on the last leg and the promise of an re design to their First Class product soon).
My last two flights to Sydney via the Turkish Miles programme got me Gold status for two years plus three Hold status membership to give away to family and friends.
