Just hand it over at the till and say it’s a Visa Debit card. No apps required. I’ve gone through thousands in O4A cards had no idea there was an app, and never done anything apart from check the odd balance on one by putting in the number on the website. My local boots won’t accept one4all physical cards to purchase gift cards. Use apple pay and they are none the wiser.

Same here, tried Argos, Boots and WHsmith and they refuse a physical one4all card to pay for a gift card. Use the app and it’s treated like a regular contactless payment.
