A friend has booked LHR to Miami business on the 241 Amex and her companion can no longer fly due to ill health, Will she still be able to take the flight next week?
I think technically both people are supposed to fly the outbound, but she can call BA and get them to take the friend off the booking.
Is there any more avios availability so that she could simply cancel and rebook and get her voucher back (if there’s still some validity on it)?
*There looks to be some avios availability as per SeatSpy – someone with an unused voucher might be able to check for “extra” CW seats on other dates. She could either rebook for 50% avios off or save the voucher for another trip.

I can see multiple days with business availability next week, on BA and AA – is she tied to just one day?
Technically it’s only the companion that has to fly with the holder of the voucher.
It isn’t even a ticketing issue as both passengers still have their own tickers even if they are part of the same booking. One person not flying does not affect the other person who still wants to fly
So your friend need to call BAEC and tell them about their companion and ask what they can do to maintain her booking whilst cancelling the companions.
I think they should be able to split the PNR then cancel the companions ticket and generate avios and cash refunds.

She will only see full availability if she has an unused BAPP voucher. If you post the dates of her flights, sometime can check availability for you properly. By changing the booking, your friend can get a refund of some of the Avios and fees. The BAPP voucher allows a single traveller to use fewer Avios.
I am seeing availability almost everyday next week.
