Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club 241 DUB-LHR-IAD – can I get off at LHR on return?

  • 30 posts

I’m about to book my 2-4-1 probably starting in Dublin instead of Heathrow as it’s half the price. Do I need to return to Dublin after my trip to IAD, or could I book the return to land in LHR? If so, would the cost be more due to getting off in LHR instead of continuing to DUB. I would get a return trip LHR – DUB.
The whole point is to save money on this trip…..
I will be booking 354 days in advance so can only book the outbound leg and have to wait 30 days to book the return leg.
And can you suggest another starting point better than DUB?
INV or AMS has been suggested in some other posts I think?
    Thank you!

If you book the last leg as LCY to Dublin you can get off at LHR without your bags being checked through for the Dublin flight. Dublin is usually cheaper than anywhere from U.K due to the favourable taxes etc.

Your 241 will cost even less if you only book the return as far as LHR.

    Just book DUB-LHR-IAD and IAD-LHR.

This. You don’t need to book the last leg, and it saves faff!

Is this possible without booking both legs separately or calling BA though?

Yes, look for the option to go back to dub fro low or Lcy. Then your bags have to come off at lhr with you. We have just booked back up flts from kul to dub, via lhr/lgw, so will get our bags in lhr…
And no, you can’t leave off the final sector on that one. Plus no point in phoning in to do so. Discretion is the name of that game, certainly.

@polly, of course, they have so many airports in That London! I was getting mixed up thinking how I would book DUB-LHR-XXX-LHR-MAN with the new 241.

As others have said, with a 241 it will be cheapest and easiest to book to end at LHR on the way back. Don’t bother with changing airports etc. Only book the last leg if you want to fly it.

This will not be the same for cash bookings.

You can’t start and end in different cities with the 241 if you book online though. You have to call or make separate bookings.

    @Anna,
Yes, it’s a shame they don’t offer the multi city booking option for the 241. Again, making it as difficult as possible to use. If so, you could easily end your trip in Man. Get your point. And l think if you call in, they won’t like the plan….

Thanks everyone. I’ll be booking the first part 354 days in advance online and will have to ring up to book the return leg so will ask for IAD-LHR. Hopefully that won’t create any issues. I don’t want to risk losing the Business class flights by waiting a month to do the return trip all at once.
