You need to call BA to book open jaws using a 241. Bear in mind that the unflown leg (ie Barcelona to Dubrovnik in your example which looks OK) cannot be longer than either of the flights, an IATA fare construction rule, rather than BA being difficult.

You don’t have to call BA to do this unless the surcharges are an issue, which won’t be the case with RFS flights. Just book them separately – the outbound leg with the 241 then the return as a normal booking. Then use Twitter to request the refund of the extra avios. You’ll be left with 2 separate bookings but IMO it’s a small price to pay for not needing to navigate the hell of phoning up.

Good i will try and see how efficiency of twitter as i will travel different airlines between Barcelona and Dubrovnik rather than BA.

It won’t matter how you get to Dubrovnik, in fact the Twitter team probably won’t even look at the itinerary. Just give them the 2 booking refs and say you are claiming back your 50% avios as you used a companion voucher for the outbound. They take a few days to reply but at least you can do this at your leisure.
