Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club 3 Passengers – Barclays Cabin Upgrade and Amex Companion Voucher (not premium)

  • 8 posts

Please help me get my head around this.

I’ve promised my 10-year-old daughter that we can travel business class long haul.

We currently have 133k Avios Points and annually qualify for the Barclays cabin upgrade and Amex Companion Voucher.

How can I make this happen? Potentially we’ll fly to somewhere like Dubai or Mexico or something similar.

I need to know how to navigate this with 3 passengers: Mum, Dad and Daughter.

I’m happy to upgrade my AMEX to Premium Plus if I need to. Any help really appreciated.

So first if all, the free Amex 241 will only get you economy avios seats.

The Barclays upgrade voucher will get you a return journey in PE or CW (business) both ways, or 2 of you, one way (as long as avios seats are available in the cabin you want to fly in).

    So you’ll need to either:

    a) get the BAPP and earn the 241 voucher on that (will require £15k spend from November)
    b) earn a lot more avios and pay full award price for the 3rd seat.

OR – use avios for you and your daughter and pay cash for the your partner (if the avios and vouchers are yours).

However, 133k avios is not a lot, so unless you’re prepared to pay a much higher cash element, you will need considerably more to get 3 of you in long haul business class. Have you read the articles and threads on here about getting the most of out all this, and also looked at avios pricing?
