An update to offer a little balance. Like many I was charged the fee and the first statement appeared before I’d received the card. When the card did arrive the envelope had the typical damage I’ve seen in pictures posted by others. Initially the card wouldn’t work online for a £1K amount, as the 3DS failed, I suspect it just wasn’t in place. I’d used the card for a couple of small purchases, made sure I’d chip and pin rather than contactless. I was able to add my card to Curve, and used that without issue in Germany the last few days. Today I tried the £1K online transaction and it worked flawlessly, authorised in the Barclays app.

However, the 25k Avios for hitting the £3k spend SUB last week has been sat on pending all this week.I dislike the app very much.

3DS still not working for my card… can’t link my card to Curve, Tesco Pay+ app and basically any transaction which requires 3DS are declining. I’ve already used the card for many Chip+PIN and Contactless transactions (and they’ve been processed + cleared too) over the past week or so, so not sure why 3DS still isn’t working for me.
I’ve tried contacting Barclaycard by phone but weirdly enough they said they couldn’t find my account! Nothing linking to my card number, phone number nor my postcode!
Any ideas on how to proceed here? I’m wary that if I continue to wait it out for another month, then hitting the £3k spend might start to be a problem, given I applied for the card on 2nd March.

There was a time (last year??) when people said how good the Barclays app was, especially when compared to HSBC’s. I actually miss HSBC’s app – I use them as my main bank account now and it isn’t as clunky or slow as Barclays’. Seamless log-in and less menus to hop through before being able to do a task.
I seriously wonder how these guys even make a profit!

The interactive animations are definitely miles better on the HSBC app compared to the Barclays one, especially the area where you view your cards – when you swipe up to view more options under the card image, it does a sort of janky animation.
Still can’t add to Curve but having no other issues with main card holder (Player 2) or my supp card?

My 2FA doesn’t work either. The solution that does work is to call up the fraud team (0800 161 5306), explain that your 2FA doesn’t work and you need them to authorise a transaction live with you on the phone. Some agents get it straight away, some will spend 20mins trying to bat you off or speaking to back office. Eventually you will hopefully get them to agree to do this – whilst you’re on the phone to them try adding the card to Curve. This may take a load of tries – do not let them go away. They basically have to click “approve” on their screen as you would if you were sent a text or used the app. It eventually worked for me and I can now use the card seamlessly via Curve – I also added it to PayPal this way. Insane we have to do this, but it deals with the immediate problem.
Thanks Pete, after spending a couple of hours on the phone I think I’ve managed to make it work and add it to Curve!
For the benefit of others facing the same issue, here’s what I did… Call up the fraud team on 0800 318 665 (yes it’s one digit shorter than a usual phone number but that’s the right one) and as Pete mentioned, make sure they do it with you on the phone. But some agents just won’t get it, and I just had to hang up and phone again later to get a different agent to answer. Then the 3rd agent I spoke to said he knew about this issue and manage to fix it after a couple tries. So I guess it really depends on which agent you get connected to.
Thanks for this. I called twice 0800 161 5306 and the second guy got my curve verification to go through. Not sure if it’s actually fixed for future transactions but that’ll do for now!
Player 2 received their card today.
Getting the same inability to make online payments or purchases that myself and others were getting when we received our cards as part of the first wave.
1 hr 50 mins on the phone to 4 different people at Barclaycard, and still not resolved.
It is painfully clear that the staff aren’t very experienced.I don’t understand how such a major company can screw up a new product launch so hard.

Thanks! This solved it!
After a further call to the fraud team, Player 2 card now works.
Several hours wasted on this this week.I have continual 3DS issues on my Barclays Premier debit card, fraud ‘fixed’ it for me last time but it’s happening all the time now (no 3DS being triggered when making online transactions) It’s so hard to get decent service from Barclays, so right now I am just moving money to a Chase account whenever I want to make a debit card payment of any size.

I have to completely agree with the above comment. It’s a lottery as to whether you get a competent and/or proactive rep when calling Barclays.
On the other hand, having the Chase account has been a really positive experience so far. Their service is superb and the new savings account is an additional bonus.
