-
Hi all,
I recently completed a long work trip which has pushed me into Bronze and just 5 tier points short of Silver. My earning year ends on 1 October. Any ideas on the cheapest, most efficient way of getting enough tier points to tip over into Silver? I understand that paying for and checking in for a flight, but not actually taking the flight won’t generate tier points?
Thanks in advance!
Flight to Dublin is probably around £30, and yes you must actually board the plane to get TP
Not sure if there is a typo or a misunderstanding here but Tier Point ‘earning’ years run until the 8th of the appropriate month – whereas membership tiers last until the last day of the following month.
Do you mean 8 October for your TP collection year – or is 31 Oct your membership year end?
Following on from @tiriavpo post I am wondering if 30 September is the card year end date ie their tier earning year end was 8 Aug. In which case they are out of luck. That said I thought TP reset to zero on the 9th so they shouldn’t have any TP visible unless they were earned since 9 Aug in which case there is no need to worry about getting the 5 TP by 1 October. All that will happen on 1 Oct is that their card year will renew but at the current Bronze status and all TP intact.
Sorry, you’re both right, my collection year ends on 8 October so I have a bit of time.
So sounds like my best option is to find the cheapest flight possible and actually board it?

Indeed.
I had to do this once and flew up to Manchester and got the train back (via Crewe) . Nice little afternoon out, though with the limited schedules Manchester probably isn’t that cheap these days + Avanti trains are a nightmare! Potentially a “B2B” at Edinburgh or Amsterdam could be a good option, you decant into the departures area so can easily reboard and come right back if you don’t fancy making a day out of it

Using this link I found just what I needed for 5 / 10 tp
