Hi. Looking for advice or knowledge as I called VS and they didn’t seem sure.
I’m looking to do a redemption LHR-LAX, one way.
Me, my partner, two children.
Virgin pricing at 270,000 points plus fees.
I have 207,000 points, my partner has 101,000 points.
Would the trip be bookable as we don’t have a ‘family’ or household account and the kids do not have their own accounts either. Advice appreciated. As I say the answer from the phone rep was sort of wishy-washy.
Not officially but phone support will often let you do this. It may be just for those with status but even this has been enforced inconsistently in the past. I’d call again and have another try.

Thanks for the input. I don’t have status so can’t create a household account. I guess worst case is that I have enough miles for me and the kids, and partner has enough for her flight. Can I book using my point for my kids? Or can you only book using your points for yourself?

You can book for you and the kids using your points. No problem.
You can book for anyone, so not an issue from that perspective.
What you CAN’T do is merge the points, either officially or unofficially via the call centre.
You can get all four seats on the same ticket (not that there is any benefit of doing this) by calling Virgin and having both of you on the line at the same time. Not necessary though.
Thank you to both, great to know we can do this. I struggle to see why Virgin don’t allow family accounts for non-status holders.
Did this a few weeks ago for a flight I booked (I’m only red). As long as your wife has enough points for her part of flight. Agent was happy to transfer the balance of points required from my wife’s account to mine to complete booking. Just need to link the accounts over the phone and have her give permission. Ask nicely and they should sort you out 👍🏼.
