Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Achieving GFL whilst never actually reaching Gold status before!

Next week after another business trip I will be be awarded Gold For Life status with the BAEC, this despite never having reached Gold status before. After nearly 28 years of business travel where each year I achieved ~1300 Tier points and never felt inclined to push to achieve Gold through Tier point runs or anything similar I have finally made it.
I have always felt that Silver was my sweet spot with seat selection and lounge access being the key benefits for me.
Will be interesting to see how I find Gold membership treats me!

I’m envious. Gold is nicer and my favourite thing about it has been better availability on flights with Avios.

Sadly I did far too much of my early career travel on Skyteam and Star Alliance so I’m nowhere near GFL and I no longer travel for work.

    Enjoy your reward!

Congratulations! Hopefully it will treat you very well indeed. After nearly 28 years of business travel you deserve it.

Fantastic, congrats! Can’t be many who have done it that way!

Well done! I think that’s a fair reward for flying so much and for so many years. Was that mainly on BA or did you do it on other OW airlines too? Technically I think its possible to earn GfL without any status or actually flying on BA metal but by crediting all flights to BA. You could, I think, earn it via 63 return flights on Qatar Airways in J LHR to BKK.

I only ever aspired to Silver but don’t even have that now.
