Adding return flight later using companion voucher (not 355 days)

I’m looking to use up a companion voucher, I’ve left this one until the last minute pretty much.
I can find availability for my outbound flight, but nothing inbound. I was thinking of booking the outbound and then seeing if the inbound becomes available later on. Can I do this myself, or via the call centre?

I’m aware of the 355 day scenario where the call centre add the return for no-charge a few days later. But this isnt the 355 scenario, more like 30 day 🙂

has anyone tried this, is it even possible?
