I signed up for a Virgin Atlantic Reward+ Card around August last year and signed up my girlfriend as a secondary cardholder. I hit the £10k spending target for a reward voucher in May. I cancelled the card in in June.
My girlfriend signed up for the same card in July this year with me as a secondary cardholder and hit the £10k spending target in October and has been issued with a reward voucher.
However I recently signed into my Virgin Flying Club account and noticed another reward voucher has been issued in my account in September 2024. This has a different voucher number to the other one in my account and the one in my girlfriend’s account.
We don’t have any other Virgin credit cards.
Any idea what’s going on?
Virgin’s IT can move in mysterious ways. Best not to make too much fuss about it, as we say on here when these regular posts appear …
I noticed the same this morning. In fact as far as I can tell, I’ve had two vouchers added, one of which is marked ‘partial’ though (which is for one person one way, worth up to 37.5k). Strange
Well I’m off to check my account, in case VS are being extra generous due to the HFP article and thread, and the mysterious posters!
*Nothing extra for us. Sad face.
Nothing to see here, please move on…..:-)
You are welcome to one of mine NL – I can’t see me being able to use them now even if I wanted to! The 75k limit is really restrictive now
I only earned mine a couple of weeks ago so would be a miracle to get a second!
@degsy – I agree it sucks but the maths may work booking Virgin one-way with a voucher and BA the other way.@degsy, thanks but tbh I struggle to use one per year! The MAN flights don’t really fit in with our travel patterns and I’ve mainly used VS points on partners, where of course you can’t use the voucher!
Any idea what’s going on?
Sounds like their IT is just as good (ahem) as BA’s 😉
@Froggee – yes agreed, I think these changes mean it’s going to need a bit more work & creativity to get the value from them. All part of the fun…..

I was recently offered a friends reward voucher but as he was only Red we couldn’t figure out how to use it on my account. I was considering getting the card when the next points offer arises but not sure if I’ll get much use out of it now apart from when I travel with the wife, like at Christmas.
A tip for anyone with multiple vouchers planing to fly in UC, especially if you have more vouchers than planned trips… Do consider using them as upgrade rather than companion vouchers.
It doubles the rate you can use them and the potential points saving on each trip – subject of course to it making sense for the specific Premium and UC points required for the flights you want to book.
For Silver or Gold status holders especially it may make some of the less ridiculous dynamic points rates rather more attractive.
Once you’ve worked out what you want to do don’t let the call centre agents talk you out of it. On our last booking the agent tried to tell me that using one voucher (requiring 202.5K points) was better than two (with 110K points). Knowing the second voucher was otherwise likely to expire I insisted on the latter. 🙂
