Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Aer Lingus bookings via avios.com

Ive been trying to book an aer lingus flight on avios.com for a few days but it keeps failing. At first it was giving a page not found error after entering payment details while today it said there had been an error and to call, has anyone else had issues with that site?

Then I remembered that it can be cheaper to book EI flights via calling, is that only true for long haul or is it cheaper to book short haul by calling BA too?

Ditto. Was on there this morning and was getting page not found just searching for availability

The booking engine definitely seems a bit ropey, but I did manage to book an Aer Lingus flight on there a few days ago. I got the error page after submitting my payment details, but the payment did actually go through and I received my ticket after a couple of hours.

DUB-BRS was 4,000 Avios and £7 via Avios.com. BA.com no longer seems to offer me the route, but I recall that the TFC were higher than that when it did. No idea if there’s a difference on short haul pricing if you call BA vs booking on BA.com.

Have you tried calling the Avios.com customer service team? They’re on 0344 49 333 49. They should be able to book EI flights for you if it keeps falling over online.

I’ve always found the avios website very temperamental but changing browser usually helps. In just tried it with Safari and got nowhere but Firefox worked albeit after a very long loading time.

Bizarrely, a few hours after I tried to make the booking which said there was a problem I got an email confirming the booking.

What is the hand luggage allowance for EI economy reward flights booked via avios.com please? Heading to Cork for 2 nights tomorrow so ideally would travel HBO to save the faf as we don’t need the extra space, but wasn’t sure if EI permit two hand luggage bags like BA, or if they only permit 1 it can be a large cabin bag?

My ticket PDF is showing “20kgs per passenger” but nothing about hand luggage. Even the small print on baggage just says:

“A 20kg bag is included on your Avios reward flight, but it is possible to purchase a seat preference, an additional bag or special equipment by
contacting Aer Lingus [https://www.aerlingus.com/support/contact-us/] directly up to 4 hours before departure. Avios bookings cannot be managed
    on aerlingus.com”
