Forums Frequent flyer programs Virgin Flying Club Air New Zealand redemptions using Virgin miles

    Hi
Does anyone have experience in Virgin redemptions between Sydney and Auckland? I’m investigating options for 2 one way business flights early next year. I have a stash of Virgin miles which I would like to use if possible.

All the details you need, including the redemption chart, are at https://flywith.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/flying-club/airline-partners/air-new-zealand/air-new-zealand-spend-points.html. You’ll need to book through Flying Club, at https://help.virginatlantic.com/gb/en/contact-us-flow.html.

The redemption chart is for return journeys. Half the values in the chart for one-way journeys. Taxes are not exactly 50%, but there is some discount.

The best way to find availability is to decide your route (as you have done), and then find a few different routes or times that would work for you, on NZ metal (and an easy way to do that is on the NZ website). Call Flying Club, and give them your flights in order of preference. Ordinarily, they need to go away and book the flights offline. Once they’ve got some, they’ll call you back, discuss the details and then take the points and taxes from you.
