Almost 1 month waiting for Platinum

I applied for Plat on 10th June and have called CS many many times in the last 2 weeks, just being told to wait another 2-3 days, or “technical issues” or wait another 2-3 days. It’s under review with the back-end team.

I already have a BAPP card with a £20k limit and have said I’m happy for the limit to be reduced to get Plat…and still nothing.

Do I really just have to keep waiting? Seems crazy it’s taking so long (I’m on a very good income with very low outgoings).

I would write a letter of complaint to CS and you may find £50 statement credit heads your way. Not a big deal but regardless your time chasing is worth something, so I’d mention you’re unhappy with the delay and that the communication has been opaque.

Someone else posted on Reddit that their Amex Gold application is taking this long as well. I wonder if Amex are indeed having some issues with certain applications.

Asked to speak to a manager on Wednesday, had a call back today and then a few hours later I’ve been approved : )
