Forums Payment cards American Express Amex app details verification requested

  • SkiFan 6 posts

    Hi,

Has anyone else’s AMEX mobile app popped up a questionnaire to verify your existing details matched and then asked about your wages, employment and residency?

Said something about needing to keep the details up to date.

I’m guessing because it was inside the AMEX app it was all legitimate.

Wouldn’t let me continue to the app without filling in the details.

Anyway just wondering if anyone else got the same prompt recently?

I’ve had it on personal and business cards. All part of their FCA requirements to keep on top of customers circumstances.

For example, if you had lost your job but Amex gave you a credit increase (because they didn’t know) and you then defaulted, you could make a case that they shouldn’t have done it and shouldn’t have to repay.

My wife and I had it recently at the same time. I haven’t applied for an Amex since 2015, and my wife since 2017, so we haven’t directly given them any info since then.

Had it and complied in the last week or so.

Yep, got one yesterday. Was just trying to check the offers before I rushed out of the door and it felt like I’d been ambushed. I know why they do it but I was annoyed because I really didn’t have time to fill in a surprise questionnaire.

+1, was last month, just filled out/hit submit, all went back to normal after.

Oh that’s good to know then, happens to everyone!

First time I’ve ever had those questions in 4-5 years of being with them!

As I was in a rush I didn’t note what documents were needed so I went on to chat yesterday only to be told that I had passed KYC and didn’t need to upload anything anyway!

This exercise doesn’t ask for any documents. If they do want something they will presumably send you an email or letter. What was annoying is that you can’t access your account until you’ve done it. I would have preferred say a 2 week period where you could dismiss the prompt before you get forced to do it

I filled in my details and it said that they didn’t match the details they had on record so there was a brief message popped up on the app that said I should go to the document centre and upload. The details won’t have matched because my salary and employment status are different (now part time and hence lower salary). I suspected they wanted proof of my new salary but, in the end, the agent said I didn’t need to upload anything
