If you apply for 2 amex cards on the same day is that likely to cause a rejection? I currently have 2 amex cards and had applied for a 3rd earlier today which was accepted, applied for what wouldve been a 4th and that was rejected.
I think there are limits to the amount of cards you can have in one name, by type. I have read before that in the USA you are allowed 4 Amex Credit Card and 10 Charge cards, but in the UK I believe it is different.
My understanding is that you could have 2 different Credit Cards (e.g. 1 x BA + 1 cash back or Marriott) and 2 charge cards (e.g. 1 Gold + 1 Green or Basic blue).
What types of you have and what was the one you have been rejected?
Irrespective of Amex policies re number of cards/types you can hold, common sense would seem to suggest that applying for two cards in the same day risks setting off alarms.
I’m not sure what a sensible gap is, but perhaps at least a week?? Whatever anyone’s personal reasons for making two applications so close together, it might look a bit desperate to a credit decision algorithm.
