£75 off £300 at Melia, valid to 31/7 just landed on my Plat card
Got this as well on a couple of cards. We’re staying at a Melia in late June which is also a LHW for which there is also an offer on – any reason why they shouldn’t stack?
Was about to get excited about the Melia offer as I’m staying at one during the promotional period, and then I saw the list of locations.
Around 30, most of which are in Spain.Oh dear.

Really? It looks to me like most of their European venues (I admit to not knowing thr estate that well…), including the ME in Aldwych which is proving to be quite the value play at the moment given the City remains sold out midweek and the West End is empty.
£300 off £2500 with Lufthansa is showing on my Plat card.
Not sure i would rush to drop 2.5k on a Lufthansa fare, is the only issue.
Book by end of May
Also have the Lufthansa offer on my gold card, it’s effectively a 12% cashback.
The t&c doesn’t say it must leave UK airports but it says GBP only (is that standard) so is there scope for an ex-EU deal?Might even be possible to use it on a Singapore codeshare from the UK if booked via Lufthansa’s website.
The United offer also allows non-united flights from the UK so long as they codeshare.

If you’re making an eyewear purchase soon you’re spoilt for choice on Plat offers at the moment! £20 back for spending £100 at: Oakley, Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut, David Clulow Opticians, John Lewis Opticians and Oliver Peoples (all in store only). There’s also a £20 back for spending £200 at M&S Opticians (also in store only). The Oakley one is back on pretty quickly, I used the previous Oakley one three weeks ago and they let us split payment over my Plat and my OH’s supp at the till so got £40 off a £201 spend (tip – if you’re just under the spend threshold, ask to buy one of the £10 lens cleaning kits which is the cheapest item Oakley sell!)

Just in time! Though the Ray Ban one doesn’t have a list of stores!
@BBbetter – good spot! Shoddy attention to detail from Amex. Just seen that Oliver Peoples doesn’t have a list of participating stores either!

This is an interesting one as SLH is part of Hilton and given they are “small hotels” — very high chance that pre-paid rate (via online booking) will be processed locally regardless and therefore trigger the credit back? Might need to call and ask the the hotel to charge your card before 15/8 though.

It’s even more interesting as there are lots of hotels globally not just in Europe and the UK. The current Hilton offer has been expanded globally as well which is really suprising.
The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, spend £100 get £50 back offer. It appears that annual membership is coincidentally £100 exactly, and includes a bottle of whisky. Will purchase of this trigger the £50 back offer?

There’s an Amex link, which goes straight to membership, so I think that’s the intention.
I was wondering though whether I could just purchase a £100 bottle with no membership, would that trigger?

From what I can see, you have to be a member in order to buy bottles.
If you have this on two cards you could become a member using your first card!Spend £1500 or more at Bvlgari, collect 37500 MR points once per card showing on my Amex Plat this morning.
Harrods Amex has…
£150 statement credit when you make one or more transactions totalling £500+ in participating hotel(s) at Shangri-La London & Paris by 30/11/2025.
Was about to get excited about the Melia offer as I’m staying at one during the promotional period, and then I saw the list of locations.

Really? It looks to me like most of their European venues (I admit to not knowing thr estate that well…), including the ME in Aldwych which is proving to be quite the value play at the moment given the City remains sold out midweek and the West End is empty.
Got totally tricked by the Melia offer. I examined carefully on the list of hotels and booked two nights just over £300 on their app. The offer did not get applied so I asked Amex why it wasn’t triggered. I was told the T&Cs suggest it’s only valid on their website and not on the app. Additionally, it only works on checkout and not on pre-booking. It makes no sense as I can’t see how you can pay online on checkout – that would mean the offer is only valid “in-store”…

The second part – insisting on pay at hotel – its becoming common now for many such hotel offers. Effectively amex saying you cannot use this offer to get discounts on future stays. Its stupid – not everyone books last minute.
The first part – on booking through the app – I guess this is not the main reason it got rejected. If you had booked a pay at hotel using the app, you might have still got the credit. Was about to get excited about the Melia offer as I’m staying at one during the promotional period, and then I saw the list of locations.

I remember making use of this offer last year on a pre booked room and the offer got triggered without issues. The transaction on Amex did not have a location information and just the name of the hotel so perhaps that’s how Amex identifies it being an ‘online transaction’. Interestingly the Hilton offer (£50 off £200 and £75 off £300) does allow for this as I made two pre bookings and the credit got taken off.
Avis back again on plat card
Save to Card to get a 20% statement credit when you spend any amount on a GBP transaction online at Avis when you book, rent and pay by 17/7/2025. Valid every time up to £30
Ah thanks – hadn’t spotted that before I made an Avis booking this morning!
So the question is do they pick up the spend at the time of the initial transaction, or not until it clears from Pending state as it currently is? I know they don’t actually award anything until the transaction clears, but I’m not sure if it’s also effectively pending in the background. I could cancel and rebook, but just done that once already after the price dropped significantly.
