Been using my Barclaycard Avios to pay my Amex which looks to no longer be an option, is this the same for everybody else?
Any work arounds as it was quite good to have another 30 days to pay it off via Barclaycard and of course the other perks
It seems bluechain is now an option if you can stomach the fees!
Disastrous name, suggestive of crypto scammery, but it looks to be legit.
Amex seem to be tightening up on other things so perhaps ending payment of their bill via another credit card is part of that?
Don’t think the fees would be worth it.
I’ve searched the forums and seen few other posts about Amex tightening things. Guess I might aswell get rid as Avios points are worth more for me. It’s just a shame as Amex links to Google Pay which Barclaycard does not so that’s going to be a pain! It was good while it lasted
You deserve to be hanged, drawn and quartered for discussing such things on a public forum. Some people never learn!

It might be annoying for you, but Amex will incur slightly higher fees when you pay by credit card. But, more to the point, they don’t want to be associated with you using credit to pay credit, or next month you could be using Amex to pay Barclaycard as you settle comfortably into a broad road that leads only to perdition. If you need to borrow on your cards, Amex wants you to pay interest.
Credit models are based around you being able to fund your purchases out of earnings, albeit with a little occasional smoothing from one month to the next. If you want to transfer your card balance to another card, do the honest thing and apply for a balance transfer rather than looking for loopholes in poorly coded IT systems.
BTW, do you realise that paying the balance on one credit card with another credit card is likely to do unpleasant things to your credit score with most lenders? It’s not worth it for a few points.
Don’t be silly. People paid hundreds of thousands of pounds on Creation’s credit cards with other credit cards and did zero to their credit scores.

I wonder how many credit score and credit model builds you’ve approved in recent years? Personally, I’ve lost count.
Personally, I think it’s a bit silly to call a subject matter expert silly based on a few forum anecdotes.

Surely an expert in anything would realise an anonymous post means they’re an Internet random rather than an SME.
Hey, whatever. But you do realise that you can do real, actual harm to people if they believe the random assertions you make, right?
But maybe you’re the kind of person who just doesn’t care.
Indeed. That’s why BSers are a really problem for people that don’t know better.
@Harrier25, it fills my morning with joy that someone else knows the correct past tense of the verb “to hang” in this context 😁

You mean it’s not hunged? drawed and quarterered? 😀😀

What exactly is discussing a feature on a public forum that Amex have stopped going to do?? If its not part of the t&c of headforpoints the moderators are welcome to close or delete the thread unless you’re the Amex moderator in disguise?

I can see why Amex would prefer to maximise their profit and don’t blame them. However i’m sure they would rather me do my daily spending via their card than a competitor in which I will now rarely use Amex.
I have regular access to my credit file and it has been on Excellent for a number of years in which I’ve remortgaged so don’t see how paying one credit of in full every month with another would do unpleasant things to my score.

Have you asked Maxi Priest ??
Have you asked Maxi Priest ??
Or Mr X?

Agreed.
Some proper plonkers out there.Good spot, i was going to pay my Amex off tomorrow with BC but guess not!
Was reviewing my cards last week and decided to keep amex because of this feature, better rethink my strategy going forward.
Writing about the ability to pay off an Amex with a Barclaycard a week ago would have been foolish.
Advising people that it no longer works is helpful.

Or Ali. He would’ve called Amex and asked about it.
