Clarification please, re the current Amex/PayPal offer…£20 against £100 spend. I’ve read the small print but still not clear.
I have a family wedding coming up shortly and it would be useful to spend £120 down at Sainsbury .
It seems the offer is online only. Based on that requirement, the only option I have found is purchasing a Youchooseagift.com, gift card via PayPal and then converting it to Sainsbury.
Tha alternative I would prefer, is to use my PayPal credit card…purchase online a Sainsbury gift card and then spend, but not sure that it conform to the ‘rules’, even though it is backed up to Amex.
Any pointers appreciated. To my knowledge, there is no credit card issued by PayPal UK. There is a business debit card, but the last time I used one it could not be funded from a credit card, only from PayPal balance, debit card or bank account.
Therefore, the youchooseagift method is the one to use.
Has anyone been able to clarify that buying gift cards on PayPal actually triggers the cashback?
Paid my BT bill, triggered the email within 5 mins which was exceedingly fast considering how slow it normally is
Sorry @Toaster my fault, I meant the Debit card that I have.

And now the 90 day wait for the credit begins.
Have done 3 of the £100/£20 ones, all now credited and on my wife’s BA business card she had the £300/£60 useable twice, also both paid. No email received but showed as ‘used’ quickly. FT offer triggered email and credit applied almost immediately last week.
Ebay spends all credited the next day so far. Unfortunately still paying £5 more than I want to but it’s better than paying £20 more
All 3 x £15 for me, paid within 3 days
Has anyone been able to clarify that buying gift cards on PayPal actually triggers the cashback?
Also keen to know if gift card purchases through Paypal trigger the cashback, any data points?
Spent on the 15th and credit appeared this morning. It’s like a return to the good old Amex!
This offer appears to be cumulative, I done two eBay transactions one of 90 and the other 12 and had the 20 back.
Used the wrong card thinking it was the 70 offer card, but it’s tracked and payed out on the cumulative offer price
Has nobody actually used it to buy a gift card? I wanted to use it on KLM but apparently there is an Amex restriction on using PayPal with flights. Typical!
Purchased gift cards through the PayPal website (for Apple, Netflix, Spotify) on 16/Jul. Credits appeared today for all of them.
Interestingly, so did Morrisons cashback from a shop on 15/Jul, so it would appear to have fixed itself.
You can use PayPal to pay BT, also Hotter shoes.
Bought gift card via Paypal and triggered the offer, however I paid for goods in M&S using Paypal and it didn’t trigger the offer, and the live chat said it only works for items purchased directly via Paypal website. Can anyone confirm which is true, as if people are getting credit from BT and Ebay how are they paying the bills ? I took the paypal payment option in the M&S website but presumably I should have done something different!
Paid for Ocado shop via PayPal on Sunday, received amex email confirming PayPal offer has been used and £15 credit on my amex account today.
Bought a youchoosegift card for £70 which I planned to convert into a Sainsbury’s voucher. Can’t register at the youchoosegift website to use the card, has anyone had any success? If not avoid like the plague, Trustpilot reviews are awful.

I tried it this morning and it all worked fine for me and got my sainsbury’s card. Probably best to e-mail their support to query.
I can also confirm that gift cards via Paypal trigger the offer

I’ve emailed but not holding out for a reply looking at trustpilot!
To be fair they’ve replied but it’s just a document on how to register. Didn’t help at all.

I had to try a couple of times before it worked. Then Sainsbury’s card received almost instantly.

It certainly works for cards purchased on https://www.paypal.com/uk/gifts/all. You need to buy an Access All card which can be used to buy various other cards (check first).
For BT and Ebay just use the PayPal payment option.Another one here who bought a YouChoose ‘All Access’ giftcard from the Paypal website.
Got the confirmation email from Amex straight away, and the cashback credited a few days later.
Activated the giftcard with no problems and used it to purchase a Sainsburys E-giftcard, which I have since redeemed online.

I did not get an email confirmation, but it got paid out on the same day as the transaction came off pending. Had to order £5 above the limit in case items go out of stock!
