On https://www.paypal.com/uk/gifts/all buy Access All, use to buy Sainsbury’s gift cards which gives a wide choice including JLP and Amazon.
A bit of a faff but you get 21% back + Nectar!

Also a quick follow up Q, can you buy the Amazon/JL gift cards in Sainsbury via self checkout and use a gift card to pay?

I’ve bought JL via sainsburys with GC using self check out recently.

Thanks for the confirmation. I know it’s possible in Morrisons but hadn’t tried it in Sainsburys.

As others have said, Yes, in fact I would not recommend going to a normal till, and definitely not Customer Services.

I am tried to purchase difference gift card from Paypal directly, but it always say ‘We aren’t able to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please go back to the merchant and try using a different funding source.’ Anyone encounter similar issue when check out from paypal? If I use paypal to pay other transaction online, it is good to go through with no error.

Had a refund, had hoped that Amex wouldn’t claw it back but did so after a week.

Can the offer then be used again?

Hi everyone, hope you’re having a good weekend. Please could someone tell me if they’ve found a way to use this offer to purchase gift cards that can be used to buy Apple products? I’m looking to purchase something directly from the Apple Store, rather than via JL etc. I can see that PayPal sells gift cards that only work for the App Store and Apple Music, which won’t work for my purposes. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I think they will – Apple gift cards are all for one now I think – apps, music, store.

I have done exactly this. Purchase the apple gift cards from PayPal gift cards. Add it to your apple balance and when you go to pay in Apple Store the full balance will be available.

Thank you, both of you. I kept having an error when trying to purchase a gift card from PayPal yesterday with any account, so hopefully this will stop happening soon. I don’t find PayPal’s IT very impressive.

My cashback was clawed back but the live chat agent said the offer was still visible on my account ( not on my offers that I could actually see ) and they said to do another £70 transaction and it would credit…… let’s see….

Anyone else get the same error on PayPal when trying to buy a gift card from their store?

“We aren’t able to process your payment using your PayPal account at this time. Please go back to the merchant and try using a different payment source.”

This is when I add a gift card to my cart and click “buy it now”. I don’t even get an option to select my preferred payment source. I’ve never had any issues with PayPal before and I’ve never used it for anything other than straightforward legitimate online purchases.

You could try buying an Apple gift card from https://startselect.com/gb-en I bought three from there using the Amex/PayPal offer and used them towards one of the new iPhones direct from Apple.

Sorry if this has already been answered.

I paid for something via paypal but the statement on amex comes through as the retailer and not paypal. Will this still trigger the offer?

    @Josh
Yes, quite often the retailer’s name appear..all mine were retailer named, but the refunds came through ok, finally.

I think it’s still pending for you?

Paypal will show the website you used when it’s pending and once it’s processed, a day or two later, it’ll show up as PAYPAL *companyname.

Just to feedback to you I had Paypal credit clawed back. Live chat on Amex said they could see the offer still on my card even though I couldn’t on my offers page. I made another eligible Paypal purchase and the £15 credit appeared dated same day as my £70 transaction for PayPal gift card posted. 😱

Just to let you know the £15 cashback was awarded same day as the new transaction! Wow can’t believed it worked like they said it would
