Don’t think he said big changes, he said we won’t be getting rid, so probably the same….and no coupon like nonsense.
Why suggest that there are?
I didn’t. I said that cardholders wouldn’t be disappointed and that no-one would be cutting up their cards in disgust.
Not sure where you read into this that there are ‘big changes’.
“People see what they want to see, and what people want to see never has anything to do with the truth”
And, without wishing to state the obvious, you know you can order groceries on Deliveroo for pick-up and so not pay the delivery fee? Go in the app, order what you want, pay on Amex Gold and pop down to your corner shop where it will all be bagged and waiting.
Yup but as I have Deliveroo plus the saving vs the £1-2 service fee isn’t worth leaving the house lol
I do feel bad that in my city atleast it seems to have diverged from bicycles and scooters to cars so not as environmentally friendly as it should be.
@TGLotalty, regardless of their mode of transport you may want to read a little about the plight of those doing the delivering and leave a tip…
Having jam sugar delivered to your zone 1 home for less than a fiver is not the slam dunk you may think it is

Bravo. Well spoken. Given we’re talking Platinum cardholder benefits here, a coin/money jar next to the front door ready at hand for tipping delivery riders won’t kill any of us. Thank you @executiveclubber for giving us a reality check here.
Surely the solution should be for legal protections to protect the workers, not to head further down the path to the US model were youll end up having the self checkout at Tesco prompting you to give a tip?

Exactly

Fully agreed. In the meantime these delivery drivers need to have a chance to lead a decent livelihood.

Not sure one can actually cut their metal card at home… 🙂
Interesting thread btw. I was thinking about applying for a new Platinum card and cancelling my hubby’s so I’ll wait until next week at this point.
Do we know whether there’s going to be a new offer with the changes being implemented? That would be good.
Someone said they will be announced before the month end, so hopefully by Thursday!

Although @Rob says nothing to worry about, great time to bury bad news.

@executiverclubber
It’s not just the gig economy (which is truly terrible). I stopped using these services when I realised at least 20% of the people delivering to your door aren’t who they were supposed to be. This article talks about illegal workers, selling of accounts and potential modern slavery which doesn’t sit right with me. All of which are easily solvable by tech companies like Uber and DeliverooAre we expecting to hear about the change to the benefits this week?
I’m expecting it after the pro-rata refunds go away.
If Rob publishes just two articles tomorrow, you know the third one is being embargoed (usually until 10am).
The Harvey Nichols offer T&C’s look to have been updated on the website:
“Save this American Express Platinum Card benefit to your Card® and spend in store and online at Harvey Nichols by 30/6/2025 to get 100% back on eligible transactions made up to £50, Benefit valid once every 6 months. Terms, payment restrictions and future communications about this benefit will apply”

Same wording via the App for previously saved offer. A 6-month stay of execution then…

If this gets an article tomorrow, then this is clear favouritism towards the Platinum card because the Gold card’s Deliveroo offer never got an article for multiple extensions. I think it’ll be a clear sign of an Avios devaluation coming up if Mr. Rob does indeed create an article.

I am not sure I understand the link? Rob said there would be an article about overall benefits with Plat not just Harvey Nicks extension. So I don’t think it is about writing about HN offer vs deliveroo. Also both cards earn MR point so don’t see how writing about one card over the other would indicate avios devaluation?
HN offer has disappeared from my saved offers (where it had been since day 1 more or less) and whilst I continue to wait for the latest credit to post.

It was sarcasm.

It’s gone for me too. The dining abroad credit still exists but the UK one’s still missing for the past month or so.
