My wife just go an email:-
Until 10 October 2023, you can collect a huge Welcome Bonus of 60,000 Avios when you take out the British Airways American Express® Premium Plus Card through the link in this email and spend £5,000 in your first three months of Cardmembership.
I have just applied for this for Mrs AFKAE. We are both retired, so income is from various sources. I was brutally honest in supplying the information and slightly surprised to get approved.
The card has arrived today and to my dismay has a £2000 credit limit which will means the £5000 in 3 months will require quite a bit of management.
If I go to the limit and then make payments before the balance is due does that free up more room for further purchases?
I should add that I have a BAPP with a decent limit (think it’s £10-£15K) and Mrs AFKAE is supp on my BAPP. Can I fiddle about with the limits between the two cards even if they are different holders?
Yes, keep paying off after every 2k or so, we had the same issue. It’s just retirees syndrome, need a balancing act.
No, you can only transfer excess credit limits onto one of your own cards, unfortunately. But just keep on making interim payments and spends, til you hit the 5k.

Thanks, I’ll do it that way.

Longer than usual.
We were accepted for 2 Amex cards in august (BA PP and AMEX Cashback), one took 1 day, the other 2 days.
Applied for the Platinum a week ago and still had nothing in the post.

The one I mentioned above was applied for on Friday 29/9 and arrived today.
With the pro-rata refund in question, does this mean the €250 fee *could* actually be half that after the bonus hits?
Never held a BA Amex card before.

If you cancel the card after 6 months then yes your fee *would* be half of £250
I’ve managed to hit the £5000 threshold and I can see in the membership earnings tracking that I have been awarded the 60000 Avios welcome bonus to be credited to my BA account in the next monthly credit! Hooray 🙂
I received a refund relating to a product return, which is going to take me slightly under the original £5000 requirement. I am expecting the Avios related to that product to be subtracted as soon as the refund is reflected. Of course I am willing to continue spending on the card, as I am looking forward to hitting the companion voucher threshold and I generally enjoy the Avios per £1 ratio.
Will they also remove the 60000 welcome bonus? If they do that, will they re-add it when I hit the £5000 threshold again?

Since nobody responded I’ll answer the question myself for anyone else that has the same question.
The 60000 Avios were removed from the tracking shortly after I received the refund.
After making an additional purchase that was posted, the 60000 Avios were added again in the tracking.
All good in the end 🙂
