I have a 241 voucher booking in my name want to cancel and rebook using partners voucher (I won’t travel). No seats show as available now. If I cancel will the seats immediately be bookable : can I even do this on the same call? I don’t want to loose the date. Hope this makes sense.
The consensus seems to be that if the seats were part of the initial guaranteed inventory that BA make available, then they should be immediately available to rebook.
If, however, they were part of additional availability released later it’s not guaranteed.
I believe there is also a time element, something like within 45 days of departure even the original allocation may not come back
There’s absolutely zero guarantee that the seats will re-appear as award space. They might or might not is the best answer anyone can give you unfortunately and BA customer service won’t be able to tell you either before you actually cancel the existing booking.
