PVG booked for Jan 24, aiming for an open jaw return from HKG or SIN. My question, where to go for some winter sun without too many inter Asia flights? Looking at the moment at Vietnam and Cambodia. But need some advice?

I enjoyed Phu Quoc when I went a few years ago (stayed at the JW Marriot – lovely beach and hotel, and excellent value on one of their travel certificates). Although I recall someone on here said recently the whole place has been massively over developed in more recent years?
Phnom Penh is a nice city to visit for a few days / long weekend (and you must do the Killing Fields while you’re there – I wouldn’t call it enjoyable, more like utterly horrific, but something that everyone ought to be exposed to really). Not sure what beach / sun options Cambodia has – maybe someone else can advise.
Possibly one of the Malaysian islands or beaches as another option?
A lot probably depends on which airlines (or alliances) you want to fly with and whether paying with cash or miles etc…
