Hi all,
Sorry if already answered somewhere but couldn’t see.
Currently have the BA Amex. Never held a membership points previously.
Can you still get welcome offer on the gold card or has this changed now due to their T&Cs wording – I understand I will not be eligible for any Welcome Bonus award if I hold or have held any personal American Express Card in the past 24 months.
If it’s a personal (not business) card, you won’t be eligible. You would only be eligible for the Platinum SUB.
Thanks for the reply and ah that’s annoying, never used to be case before right? Thanks re Platinum alternative.
Would this work – do platinum, do spend to get welcome bonus and then downgrade to gold. Would the gold 1st year still be free then?

Most likely yes; based on recent offers seen in the retention thread
