Hi guys,
Maths never was my strong point, need some help calculating the best redemption method please from the below:
Return flights Dublin – Tenerife in Sept 2023 for 2 adults and 1 infant.
Cash ticket with Aer Lingus is £563.48, not including checked luggage.
Booking via BA Exec Club:
35700 Avios + £ 134.90
34230 Avios + £ 239.90
33600 Avios + £ 197.90
23310 Avios + £ 260.90
17850 Avios + £ 297.65
14280 Avios + £ 339.86
Booking via Avios.com/ AerClub
35700 Avios + £ 47.30
33754 Avios + £ 68.30
31158 Avios + £ 110.30
24018 Avios + £ 131.30
16228 Avios + £ 257.30
11036 Avios + £320.30
Some difference in taxes and fees between BA Exec Club & AerClub! So given that, any idea how I calculate the options within AerClub booking and ensure I get the best avios value? (FYI – I have 50k Avios points so any option works for me)
Thanks in advance!
Are these prices for 1 or both adults (also I think you’ll be charged another 10% for the infant)?
If you value Avios as worth 1 pence then by treating the Avios as pounds and pence
Booking via BA Exec Club:
357.00 Avios + £ 134.90 = £491.90
342.30 Avios + £ 239.90 = £582.20
336.00 Avios + £ 197.90 = £533.90
233.10 Avios + £ 260.90 = £494.00
178.50 Avios + £ 297.65 = £476.15
142.80 Avios + £ 339.86 = £482.66
Booking via Avios.com/ AerClub
357.00 Avios + £ 47.30 = £404.30
337.54 Avios + £ 68.30 = £405.84
311.58 Avios + £ 110.30 = £421.88
240.18 Avios + £ 131.30 = £371.48
162.28 Avios + £ 257.30 = £419.58
110.36 Avios + £320.30 = £430.66
So the cheapest overall cost is 24018 avios + £131.30 taxes via Aerclub = £371.48
Paul..
Thanks NL. These are prices for both adults and 1 infant. Points wise, think the standard fare is 8,500 points one way per adult. But yes the above includes the entire booking.
Thanks v much Paul. I was trying to work out differences in avios vs differences in £, and then comparing them.
That’s a much easier method – thank you!
On a related note, anyone know why the BA Exec fees are nearly x3 times the AerClub fees??
