Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club Avios spends for part of route. Pls help me understand

I’m looking to travel Manchester-Calgary return in 2025. No direct flights but options exist of course.

    There’s MAN-LHR-YVR (BA) then YVR-YYC (WestJet).
    There’s also MAN-LHR then LHR-FTW-YYC (American Airlines).

I’m struggling to see how I can spend about 75000 Avios + 2-4-1 voucher on the 2 of us. I can see availability on my flights LHR-YVR so that’s good eh? But can I manage to optimise a booking?

    Any advice gratefully received.

Didn’t you ask this the other day?

You can’t use 241 on AA or WestJet so it depends how important that is to you.

With only 75k avios to use, you’re looking at economy both ways with the 241 or one of the other avios/cash options.

You could just one stop via MUC or AMS and pay £650-700 per person and keep your Avios and voucher for something else depending when it expires.

Except now they have 75k avios rather than 50k!

OP please do people the courtesy of reading the answers to your original post and taking that advice.

Thanks to NorthernLass and davefi. Yes I asked yesterday but I thought it had failed to post. Sorry.

Yes, this is the best value after searching today. If I go for comfort/other price points I still won’t get value from the points. In years gone by I used to amass a reasonable amount but not any more. Checked balance and it’s actually 80,000 give or take but still no great shakes.

As I explained, I’m very sorry and normally forum savvy but when I looked, the post wasn’t there. My booboo.

Oh, 2nd person in two days who didn’t read the message that their first post gets moderated. One way or another spam is getting through!

Avios are worth zero until you spend them. So if you’ve accumulated them organically (not bought them) then anything close to 1ppp is fair value. Personally (as someone who collects AND buys), I only use then for First/Club long-haul with a 241 as that realises the most value. Or short-haul when cash tickets are expensive (Econ or CE).

So unless you want to save them to accumulate more for a future trip, the best value is spending them 😉

You might think about looking at some long hall business redemptions in Business with Iberia from Madrid with your Avios.
You’ll get to some good destinations for 80k
