I’ve read about the price increase but started my subscription earlier this year. With the cost of redemptions increasing significantly in terms of the Avios requirements, I couldn’t see another way of accumulating large amounts.
I happened to just come across a reply to an email or online form where I asked how to switch off auto renewal and it explicitly says that by keeping my auto renew on I’m protected from a planned price rise. Am I reading this correctly and isn’t this different to what was reported? This email was sent to me by BA early March.
“In order to cancel your auto-renewal, please sign into your account here https://pgt.shopping.ba.com/ and hover of your name before selecting ‘My Subscription’ followed by ‘Cancel Subscription’
This will cancel your auto-renewal however your current plan will not be affected.
Should you wish to keep your subscription active, your original price will be honoured for your next auto-renewal (the subsequent 12-month period). In the event of subscription cancellation and a new plan being taken out at a later date, new pricing will apply. By keeping your subscription active, you guarantee that your plan price for the next 12 months will remain as per today, safe from planned price increases in 2023”
My understanding is your price won’t increase up til the end of your current subscription period but a new (autorenewed) period will be billed at a new (understand higher) price.
Thanks both. Looks, like will have to cancel auto-renew.

Depends if you think the re-subscribe price still represents good value?

I thought this but the email and quote literally says this will not happen. My price within the subscription period cannot increase as I paid in full for a year.

So from this I expect to auto renew at £1,789 for the year for 200k Avios, not the new price. Unless I’m misreading? It says my next auto renewal and subsequent 12 month period will honour the original price. Not the current period (which obviously remains the same price as I’ve paid already).
In April this year I subscribed for the monthly avios allocation purchasing a total of 100,000 avios miles by payment of a lump sum of just under £900.
The web page informs me that the next payment is due next April. I do not want to commit to automatic renewal but there is nothing on the page how to avoid this. BA promised weeks ago that it would enable cancellation of automatic renewal but I am still waiting . I did try emailing BA customer services but other than an automatic reply promising a substantive response in 10 working days ( exceeded) I am still waiting. I have tried to follow the advice above by clicking on ‘ my subscription’ but that does not come up with the cancellation option.
Any suggestions?
I subscribed for the annual Adventurer at £1789 per year. Despite recent price rise for new subscribers, the FAQ state the following, so in October (if I don’t cancel) I expect my card to be charged £1789 again.
“Why is my subscription price different to what’s on the home page?
We change subscription prices from time to time, so the price displayed on the home page can be different from the price you pay. Your active subscription price is displayed in ‘My Subscription’ area and it’s the price accepted at the start of your subscription. You’ll pay this price for as long as your subscription plan remains active. If you choose to cancel and resubscribe, new prices will apply.“
