Seen some horror stories about The Economist not fulfilling their end of the deal, so reporting my positive experience re the recent combo of £129 signup, 15k Avios and £60 Amex statement credit.
Subscribed on 14 Feb, £60 statement credit posted on 15 Feb, 15k Avios credited to BAEC on 6/3. Pretty happy with that outcome.
Waiting on 18k points (not expecting them for a couple of weeks), but can concur that we’ve had the credit post promptly (£239 reduced to £179).
My partner had subscribed up until now, used chat and asked if there were any renewal offers; 50% off (£119.50 down from £239).
They were definitely going to get the magazine either way, but we felt £179+18k Avios was better value than £119.50 (equivalent of paying c.£60 for 18k Avios), so they cancelled and I signed up.
