I have BA avios but I want to use them to upgrade on my Malaysian Airlines flights.
Does anyone know if you can upgrade Malaysian flights with Avios or if there is a way to transfer Avios to and “pay” with Enrich points?They are both OneWorld so I’m hoping there are some options. Thanks!
To my knowledge, the answer is no and no, sorry. Unless you booked originally via BA? In which case you may be able to upgrade with Avios, possibly. But if booked with Malaysia Airlines then I think your only options would be cash or Enrich points (and no way to transfer Avios to Enrich that I know of).
For cash there are various different ways to upgrade – instant (flat fee), bid (same system as used by quite a few airlines), or last-minute at airport check-in. Some/all/none of those may be available for any given flight.
But perhaps one day MH will follow Finnair and Qatar and adopt Avios is its currency… 😉
They do have the bid system (or did, pre-COVID) but prices were quite hefty on the long haul routes
