Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club BA Avios partner claim – Qatar / Malaysian codeshare

    Hi All,

I submitted an avios/TP BA Partner claim for a QR-coded/marketed MH operated flight just over 2 weeks ago which didn’t credit despite BA FF being on the ticket, is it worth ringing up BA to chase or just leave it as it is still too early? Still in submitted stage, how long do these claims typically take? Need to know whether I’ll get the TPs as need these TPs for the status? If not then I need to book a CE fare urgently and I have limited time left and wouldn’t want to miss out on Gold for such a small amount?

    Thanks

    Hi all again,

Sorry to Bump this, but my claim has been rejected, no idea why? As far as I can tell I should get the Avios and TPs from this flight. Not sure what I should do now? Ring or email? Never received a rejection email either. Would appreciate any advice?

    Thanks

I was in similar situation for several QR-marketed, MH-operated flights. I put in claims online for the three of us several times and these claims were rejected each time. I ultimately had to lodge complaints for us, showing our boarding passes with BAEC numbers, which BA did not deal with well or consistently (e.g., different Avios, TP awarded to each of us, resulting in different status levels between us). It took 7 months to completely sort out.

Based on this, if you have put in the claim and it’s been rejected already, I’d probably consider lodging a complaint attaching your boarding pass.

Ok I will put in a complaint, just spoke to someone on the silver line and they basically said speak to Qatar to find out why it was rejected. I don’t think she could even see the partner claim on her system as she kept referring to other BA trips on my account! Why does this have to be so difficult, surely something like this should be trivial.
Wow, 7 months is ridiculous though I’m sure you don’t need me telling you that. I need the TP by my collection year end in Oct. Problem is the boarding pass shows the MH code not the QR code it booked under? Will this make any difference? I made the claim under the QR Booked code as that was what I read on an FT Forum seemed to work. Just attaching the electronic boarding pass be ok?

If your BP shows the MH flight code and was operated by MH why don’t you try claiming from MH?

What booking class did you book? I’ve read that there have been issues with P class fares on Cathay Pacific not earning anything when crediting to BAEC. I think there are fares on MH that have the same problem.

Because the fare class doesn’t exist under MH as it’s a business QR fare class eligible for TP/Avios issued by QR. Yes I think you are right wrt MH having fares ineligible for TPs/Avios but I don’t think this is the case here.

In my case, I submitted claims for both QR and MH for three flights in our itinerary and all were rejected before eventually being accepted via complaint.

Do you have a QR Privilege Club account? One thing I was eventually asked to do was submit my Privilege Club statement to demonstrate that QR hadn’t already awarded TPs and Avios to my QR account. So, when making the complaint, you might include this from the start, if relevant.

My physical boarding pass was Malaysian Airlines too, but I supplied my eTickets/booking confirmation emails from QR and MH that included my BAEC number to support my claim, so I would provide this when lodging complaint too.

Even if it takes a bit of time to sort, they should backdate the TPs for when you flew and award status as appropriate. That said, my wife needed to put in an additional complaint to get her status changed. Hopefully it will be easier for you.

I do have a QR account and just checked to make sure it wasn’t credited there by accident. I did make sure I was not signed into QR when I bought the tickets to ensure it would credit to BA.

Thanks for this RK. Just spoke to another agent on the phone who advised me to go to ba.com/ecsupportingdocs where I can upload the Boarding passes and will also do the e-ticket as you suggest. Why doesn’t the system tell you to do this when you submit a claim!? Typical BA! This could take another 28 workings days to process. This was only a short haul flight as well worth 40TP. I shouldn’t have too and it’s not the point but I’m tempted to just take another cheap CE fare somewhere as I need these 40TPs to secure Gold as long as I get the double TPs from an upcoming BA Holidays booking before my collection year ends, I suspect another fight there to get the double TPs credited to the correct year and not the new year as it’s right close to the year end.

It doesn’t seem to be very customer friendly.

I have a similar situation – flew LHR to SYD with Qantas and also SYD to WLG return. Those 3 flights credited.

Return SYD to LHR not credited, put in a claim and it’s been rejected! I’ve put in another claim and if that doesn’t sort, I’ll call up.

I need the 240 TP to trigger my GUF voucher, so will be pursuing.

Yep, it’s quite frustrating specially when you’re counting on the points. Well I called up twice today and got different answers, the 2nd agent being more helpful. I would just recommend going to the BA supporting-docs site and uploading BP & e-Ticket to support your claim as I was told this will go to the team that deals with these claims. Specially as you’re after a whopping 240 TP!

    Hi All,

Just want to say thanks for all your help and assistance, the correct TPs & Avios have now been awarded for this flight and they dealt with it quickly once the evidence was submitted. Why they don’t ask for this initially in the first place baffles me. Why it doesn’t automatically credit in the first place through the ticketing/Oneworld network also puzzles me as it does seem a bit of a wait or hassle to get them and can imagine many don’t pursue their points.

Thanks all, wish you all luck if you’re chasing your points.

    Great result – well done!

My 2nd claim was rejected, so I need to call up and I guess submit my BP which is at home and I’m on holiday in the US!

One for a couple of weeks.

Update to my claim – although rejected twice, the TP and Avios posted to my account!

Flight taken on 26th July, posted on account with a date of 17th August.

No idea if one of my claims actually made a difference or if it is just slow Qantas posting to BAEC?

Oh great news! Who knows? Could just be slow, unfortunately we never get an explanation for these things. Maybe Qantas somewhere on the back-end clear their backlog of points to partner airlines? I’d love to know how these things work
