Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Executive Club BA award flights – change or cancellation

We have BA award flights booked on an Amex 241 GLA-LGW-TPA-LGW-GLA, all in J. I need to change this to GLA-LGW-MCO.. overland.. MIA-LHR-GLA, going out in PE (J not available) and returning in J.No date changes.

Can this be done as an amendment or do I need to cancel/rebook? I may not have sufficient avios in hand until the avios are redeposited if I need to cancel/rebok so I’d prefer if this could be done as an amendment.

People have posted here that you can make this kind of change by phone (and pay the change fee), but also that it involves BA cancelling and rebooking the flights, so I don’t know what would happen if it depended on any of the seats going back into the inventory (GLA-LGW in your case). Assuming you used a new-style 241, the CS agent might be able to see any extra availability your voucher might unlock if you were still able to use it. Worth asking, anyway.

What’s the date of the outbound? I can check if there’s any extra J availability if you like.

Thanks Northern Lass. Yes I will be using the new style Amex 241. Outbound date is 2 November. Fortunately there is good availability on the domestic connection. I’m not to worried about slumming it outbound in PE but it would be handy to know if J is available using the new 241.
