Dear Head for Points Experts
Can someone tell me where I stand in terms of my rights for a cancelled BA flight this morning due to ‘adverse weather’ from T5 to Frankfurt. I have been offered and accepted an alternative flight with Lufthansa which leaves 3 hours later. Will this impact the amount of Tier I would have accumulated for booking Business class along with 7 nights accommodation with BA under their current offer of double tier points when booking flight and accommodation together.
As I have found out this week, you are probably going to have to chase BA for the TPs – original routing credit for the standard ones, then probably further chasing if the double TPs don’t post after your trip. From what I’ve been told so far, it’s BAEC who will need to sort this out, not BA Holidays.
Once you’ve got back you should be able to claim Original Routing Credit from BAEC and you’ll probably have to chase the double TP from the holiday but I’d wait until the return flights bonus TP have been credited rather than parenting what might happen.
You should also be able to credit your new flight to your *Alliance loyalty scheme of choice if you haven’t already
