Hi all
I’ve previously used my companion vouchers, admittedly with the process being one where you’ve had to be very flexible with dates. However, has anyone else noticed is next to impossible to book anything decent nowadays? It’s all very frustrating. I know there are Reward Availability Apps but these are just showing what I can find via the dreaded BA.Com
I appear to have misunderstood that there would be increased availability for Gold Members?
Any thoughts/tips?
Increased availability only in economy and I don’t know if it includes 241
Where are you trying to go? There’s loads of availability if you have flexibility.
Yes only extra economy seats for golds. You might be confusing this with the extra CW availability sometimes opened up by the voucher.
You are confusing the gold priority reward and the additional reward space the voucher can open up.
The former isn’t related to the latter in any way. And nor is it the same as any additioanl seats BA may open up for Golds.

Do I get additional Avios seat availability as a British Airways Gold member?

There are separate articles / threads on the 2-4-1 opening up additional availability as well but I CBA to look for them.
Thanks all. I was looking to book Club World (would love First but Companion Voucher availability in First seems like finding Hens teeth) to Male in Jan/Feb 2026.
First isn’t always released at T-355, you need to keep checking.
You’ll need to be online or on the phone at midnight to get CW to MLE.

MLE is one of the most popular destinations for use of avios flights whether using a 32-4-1 or not
It would have helped if you said it was MLE in your original post!
My understanding is that the extra availability in Business Class for Amex 241 vouchers (I think that’s what you referring to with Companion Voucher) is based on there being availability in a specific booking class (I think it’s I) for cash tickets. It may be that on the MLE route, they’ve not opened up that booking class yet, if they do at all.
The Amex voucher doesn’t trigger additional availability in F and there is no additional F or J availability for Gold members with or without the 241 voucher (they do get additional Economy availability). You can do a Gold Priority Booking, and spend double the usual Avios but it’s based on the highest Avios rate so is pretty bad value.
I want to change dates for Male in Nov/Dec and even though the flights are showing I9 on many dates a kind person on here checked for me and the voucher is opening no additional seats!
@Sanj it is worth setting up a seatspy first class account – I have seen two pairs of seats open up in last few days but they go very quickly so grab them and cancel within 24hrs FOC if you need to confirm your plans
