BA premium plus welcome bonus if already holding gold Amex card

I have a gold Amex reward card and I was interested in apply for the paid BAPP card

I thought I would be entitled to the welcome bonus on the BAPP card subject to hitting the spend however there is an article today on TPG uk saying you don’t get the welcome bonus on the BAPP if you hold the gold rewards card

Is this correct ? I thought If holding the gold card the ONLY card you would be eligible to get the bonus with is the paid BAPP card

The article is wrong. And even the linked article about “strict rules for welcome bonuses” states:

“If you wish to apply for the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card from American Express U.K., you cannot have held either this card or the more basic British Airways American Express Credit Card in the past 24 months. But, you could still receive the welcome bonus if you’ve held other personal Amex U.K. cards, such as the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Credit Card.”

So clearly the author of that article just got a bit confused and gave wrong information.

Let’s hope TPG reader Jamie doesn’t close his gold card then find himself getting declined by Amex for the BAPP as seems to be happening quite a bit atm!
