    Hi,

    I’m pretty new to this, did a couple of flights on Malaysia Air this year so have ended up with 280 TPs, only need another 20 and 2 eligible flights to get Bronze. My TPs run out on 31st March next year but I’ve got return BA flights to Tokyo booked in April 2025 (and possibly some more flights later in the year) and understand you retain any achieved status the following year after expiry.

    Am thinking that a family trip to Paris in October might give me the extra TPs and qualifying flights but not sure about the flight codes. The calculator says LHR to CDG could be anything from 5 to 20 TPs depending on the economy class (lowest, low or flexible) but when trying to book flights either through Disney’s site which offer BA flights as a package or on BA’s website directly I can’t see if the flights I’ve chosen will be lowest or low. I’d hate to do all this only to then find I’m still 10 TPs short.

    Cheers

    Rich

    Someone asked a similar question the other day and it worked out cheaper to book CE for 40 TPs than buy a flexible ET ticket for economy TPs. I think as well, if you book a holiday package you’re normally in the lowest fare bucket, so don’t get a lot.

    Does your BAEC account say you only need 2 more flights? Just checking that the Malaysia flights counted.

    Hi. The flights would satisfy the 2 eligible flights for Bronze status but I suspect that they will pay the lowest TP rate especially if they are booked via Disney. Unfortunately if using the BA website to book directly it is awful and doesn’t make it easy to find out what TPs you earn but when you select a flight there is a bit which says flight details and if you click that it will tell you the fare class. That said essentially the cheaper the fare the lower the booking class and the fewer the TPs you earn. Try booking a fare that includes luggage as that will usually give higher TP

    As @AJA said, if booking flights through BA, then selecting the “flight details” link will show you the booking class. If doing it as a BA holiday, then there’s no easy way to determine the booking class. I’m not sure if they just use the same as if booking a flight-only.

    @AJA
    – I’m not sure selecting a luggage option makes any difference to the fare class.

    Will you have the capacity to make another BA flight between October and March? Whether it’s a BA Holiday or a Disney Holiday, my expectation would be 5 tier points each way, and would be delighted if it were more than that.

    If you book it as a BA Holiday for 5 nights or more, then you’d get double tier points, so it would be 5+5 doubled. and you’d achieve Bronze.

    Ah then this might be a non-starter then, unlikely to be flying again between Oct and March.

    Thanks all for your replies.

    there is a bit which says flight details

    Ah thanks, didn’t spot this initially. Looking at the flights I was thinking about through BA, I get “Economy Basic Selling class: V” and “Economy Basic Selling class: N” respectively, which the calculator tells me are “Economy Low” which would be 10 tier points per flight.

    So I *think* this would work?

    @dutts Yes both V and N class fares earn 10TP so a return trip in either class would earn you the required 20TP and meet the 2 eligible flights requirement for Bronze.
