I’m currently in Goa and have noticed seats have opened up in CW for my return journey from BLR (WTP currently booked using Barclays upgrade voucher).
My question… can I upgrade the booking from WTP to CW even though the outbound leg has been flown? TIA
Pretty much no I think – on several counts. You cannot use 2 vouchers to upgrade twice (as I understand it you have already upgraded to WTP), and you cannot apply a voucher to an existing booking. Probably also because the voucher can only be used on flights originating from UK.
Agreed no options to upgrade twice using Avios, but if they’ve released additional CW reward seats fairly late on that suggests plenty of space to fill, so worth asking at check in about a cash upgrade which might be available at a good price. I believe you can do an AUP regardless of how the original ticket was purchased.
As this isn’t really an upgrade voucher the can’t upgrade twice rule shouldn’t apply.
The voucher isn’t an upgrade but a pay the avios of the next lowest cabin down.
There only needs to be avios in the cabin you want to fly in to use it.
So if you want to fly in CW you only pay the PE avios.
You’re right, it should be a ‘travel for fewer avios voucher’.
However, the OP’s question relates to a part-flown existing booking, where a voucher has already been applied and, in isolation, from somewhere other than uk – so these terms seem to be relevant:
10. The Cabin Upgrade Voucher must be used at the point of booking a flight through the British Airways Executive Club account. It is not possible to amend an existing booking to utilise the Cabin Upgrade Voucher and nor can a Cabin Upgrade Voucher be redeemed at the airport.
11. Cabin Upgrade Vouchers can only be used for British Airways flight-only itineraries with departures from the United Kingdom …
12. A Cabin Upgrade Voucher enables you to upgrade your booking by one cabin class (where available).
