Forums Frequent flyer programs British Airways Club Barclays Cabin Upgrade voucher

  • 0 post

    Hi
I have a barclay upgrade voucher awarded from the premium paid card last year. Dummy bookings allow a biz class booking to be made.

I have since down graded to the free barclay avios card. I know the spend limit is now 20k for me, but my questions is…
If i keep the free card and hit the 20k spend target this year, Is the voucher awarded from the free card for economy to premium economy upgrade only?

    Thanks (relative newby points hacker)

The voucher from the free card is the same as the Avios Plus paid card – you just earn it for half the spend. The voucher from the Premier account/Avios Rewards is also the same. None of the BC vouchers can be used in First.

Understood thanks! Given my current rate of spend I’ll keep the free card.

Note that you started a new spend year when you downgraded from the paid card to the free card. I got a voucher from the paid card in June last year, and then downgraded. I then got a further voucher from the free card in November last year.

My barclay account dosnt show this, it’s still stuck at the target from last year…my new year dosnt start until June! Which is when I expect the target to reset.
If what ur saying is correct I should have another voucher by now and I’ve spent circa 40k on the card since I got the voucher and downgraded. ( i know i should of kept the paid card for the additional avios – but once downgraded i barclay wouldnt not let me go back yot he paid card thats my bad) .should I call barclay? I don’t actually need the voucher as I’ve used all my annual leave on other redemptions and teir point runs

It could have been a bug which they have now fixed.

When I downgraded, I got a new card number and new target year.

But I don’t think there was ever any intention to allow people to earn two vouchers in a year.
